ABOUT US
In 1951, after apprenticing under Fritz Martin in Greenville, Ohio for 4 years, Robert Sink decided to make the move to Arcanum and start his own store. He had one other employee. The original shop was on East George Street just across the street from Troutwine Auto Sales about the spot where Leroy’s Barber Shop was for years.
In 1954, he had decided he needed more space and moved the store to its current location at 11 West George Street, Arcanum, Ohio. Robert believed in offering good quality merchandise for a fair price and being able to provide timely service for your repair needs. Robert would be involved in the business until 2002 when the affects of Parkinson’s disease forced him to retire. He would pass away 2 years later in May of 2004.
Robert’s son, Dan started working part time in 1981 after school and Saturdays. Dan moved to a full time position after school in 1987. After Robert’s passing he took over ownership of Sink Jewelers. Dan has helped Sink Jewelers move into the 21st Century with:
- State of the Art computer POS system with complete inventory on computer
- Digital photography for repair intakes and appraisals
- Rofin Laser welder for jewelry and glasses repairs
- CAD Design for creating custom jewelry
- Integrated website
Sink Jewelers currently has 2 other employees:
Peggy Didier started working part time in 1982 and quickly moved to full time position. She has been working full time ever since and has almost 30 years experience in the jewelry industry. Peggy handles day to day sales operations, buying, special orders, marketing and does appraisals.
Christy Hinch started working part time in 2008 and handles day to day sales along with inventory control and marketing.
For the last 60 years, Sink Jewelers has strived to build the confidence of the community. We want people to feel comfortable leaving their precious jewelry with us for repair, whether it’s a brand new engagement ring or your Grandmother’s 80 year old wedding set. We will continue to offer great quality products with outstanding service.
